Saving Money at the Zoo and Great Links 3.17.13

My 2 year old Tessa loves animals. She learned many animal sounds by age 1, and has always been fascinated. We took her to the zoo last summer, and she had a blast. She was only a year and a half at the time, and is currently so much more articulate and expressive.

Family time at the zoo

She recently told me, “Mommy, I go to the zoo.”  It is something I am looking forward to doing often.  Taking little ones to Chicago for a zoo trip can be a little overwhelming. Those zoos are pretty big, and an hour away for us.

We live near Michigan City, Indiana and they have a zoo that is perfect for small children.  They have many animals, but the exhibits are close together, and there isn’t a lot other than animals.   We recently decided that joining the Michigan City Zoological Society would be well worth it this summer for our family.

We will pay $70 for the year. We will receive full annual pass benefits for two adults and their children under age 18, plus one guest per visit. We have 4 children and my mom is with us a lot to help with little ones. This price would be equivalent to us going two times, and will save us a lot of money. We will go at least that many times, but more than likely many more.

Money Falling From The Sky

I just thought I would share this with you, as buying season passes can sometimes be a good deal or a bad deal.  It’s worth doing the math to find out if you can save more money buying a season pass! I am looking forward to some wonderful memories with my family!

I love the zoo too. Here in Houston, they have a free Tuesday every month. Our cheap fun is disc golf mainly though.
