Post image for Roundup for the Week of 10.17.10 – Cure Juvenile Diabetes Edition

It’s time for another roundup of great articles from the previous week! But first I want to draw your attention to a very important cause. The other day I posted an article about a wonderful young lady who suffers from Juvenile Diabetes.

She is attempting to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and needs your help. You can read about her story and charitable efforts here (http://knsfinancial.com/help-find-a-cure-for-juvenile-diabetes/). Please share that article with as many people as you can and encourage them all to donate!

The article has been listed on several sites that can help to make more people aware of this cause. If you have accounts on these sites (or any other), please promote the article there. Here are a few links to make it easier:

Join the Discussion:

There are several articles that I have written in the past, and I would love to hear your feedback on them. Some of them have spurred lively discussions/debates, while others have not. So, I am asking for you to do me a favor and take a few minutes to read these articles and leave a comment (or respond to a previous comment):

Should I Cosign for a Loan? – Discusses what the bible teaches about cosigning for a loan. Read it and leave a comment letting me know your take on the issue.

Can You Eat for $1/day? – Jeffery was able to eat for less than $1/day! I highlight part of his story and share his lessons! This is the story that inspired my obsession with CVS Deals!

Lebron James, Wealth, and Taxes – Lebron saved a ton of money in state income taxes by signing with Miami over New York or New Jersey! This led to a discussion on state taxes, using my home-state as a test case!

Yakezie:

Also, don’t forget to check out the Yakezie network. This is a network that includes some of the top personal finance blogs around!

A special thanks to everyone who has helped to drop my Alexa ranking to 71,071 (as of Sunday 10/24/10)! Now my new goal is to get under 50k. This will take a lot of effort from me and help from all of you. Just install the Alexa toolbar and visit my site often (might as well make it your home page ;-) ), if you want to help!

Okay, on to my favorite articles of the past week:

Kris @ Everyday Tips and Thoughts writes about the CVS Pharmacist that wouldn’t Chip in $1.99 for an Inhaler, even though a life was at stake. Brings to mind the firefighters who let a house burn over $75!

Craig @ Money Help For Christians does some stay at home mom math analysis and asks “What’s a Paycheck Worth?”.

Joe @ Personal Finance by the Book takes a look at the biblical prototype of a godly wife and mother in “Proverbs 31 Woman: Catalyst to a Rich Marriage“.

Paul Williams of Provident Planning writes for Bible Money Matters and asks the question, “What Is God’s Plan For A Christian’s Personal Finances?“.

Brian from Until Debt Do Us Part wrote a guest post for Budgeting in the Fun Stuff, giving great practical instruction for parents in, “Kids & Money – Keep it Simple“.

Helen Fabe wrote a guest post on Barbara Friedberg Personal Finance, examining the concept of financial satisfaction – now and later.

Brad @ Enemy of Debt examines poor (but common) financial management in his article, “Dessert Before Dinner? Why America Sucks At Managing Money“.

Matt @ Steadfast Finances writes about the current state of our nation in, “Hope Floats, Until It Doesn’t“.

Joe Plemon from Personal Finance by the Book wrote an article on Christian PF giving us 7 reasons to rent instead of buy a home.

Craig Ford from Money Help For Christians also wrote a great article on Christian PF asking, “Are We Managing Money Like Epicureans or Christians?“.

Matt @ Debt Free Adventure tells us how to save money (at least $100) fast!

Ninja @ Punch Debt in the Face asks, “Is the reward system smart?“.

Frugal Dad tells us that borrowing money is the same as buying risk.

Forest @ Frugal Zeitgeist tells us the top ways to get rich.

J. Money @ Budgets are Sexy asks, “Should you be allowed to file bankruptcy more than once?“.

Kevin @ Invest it Wisely shares with us the importance of opportunity costs, and why they should not be ignored.

Hey Barb! I didn’t realize that Helen was your mom! That’s really great. Please tell her that I enjoyed her article!

Juvenile Diabetes is a very important cause, and I didn’t know anything about it until I met Joann and Taylor. I really hope that my article can make at least a few more people aware! Thank you!

Khaleef,
Congrats on the amazing success of your site! You could have that 50,000 Alexa barrier broken by Christmas. I appreciate the mentions in this roundup, but I have yet to make Faithful With a Few my home page. :)

Hey Joe, it seems like my numbers are starting to stall, so it might have to by next Christmas!

Oh, and we have to work on that home page! ;-)
