It’s time for another roundup of great articles from the previous week! But first I would like to share with you the inspiration of this week’s roundup.
We usually receive about 3 or 4 free samples each week, however this week was above average. Plus we received some great items as well!
So my wonderful wife suggested that I let everyone know how I find out about these freebies. Here’s what we received this week:
So we received various samples of Olay OXY, V8 Fusion, All-Bran, Kotex, and Emergen-C. We also received a free “All-Bran” sleep mask, a Pedometer from Nature’s Bounty, and great coupons from most of these brands!
Here are a few sites that post free sample alerts:
Wal-Mart (You’ll have to check the site for new offers)
If you have any other resources, please let me know in the comments!
Also, as a part of the Yakezie/Alexa challenge, my initial goal was to get under 200,000. I started out on 7.20.10 with an Alexa ranking of 1,704,000 and as of today (9.20.10) it is 118,992! Now my new goal is to get under 100,000.
This is basically a measure of short-term (3 months) popularity for websites. In order for your visits to KNS Financial to count, you must install the Alexa toolbar on your browsers. Here is what I suggested in the original announcement:
- Install the Alexa toolbar to your browsers, on every computer that you use to visit this site
- Visit this site often – you may even want to make it your homepage!
That’s it! Just do those two things and you’ll be able to help my Alexa ranking. Also when you visit these great articles that I link to, it will help them out as well!
Now on to some of my favorite articles from the past week or so. Hope you enjoy!

So, here are a few posts from the Yakezie network:
Neal @ Wealth Pilgrim writes about the best 401k for small business owners.
Crystal @ Budgeting in the Fun Stuff asks the question, “Do You Buy These Generics?“. Head over and leave a comment about whether or not you buy the generics listed.
Crystal has also started another blog – Crystal Clear Thoughts – be sure to stop by there as well.
Darwin’s Money has a post explaining why price gouging is good. Very interesting idea that makes sense in many cases!
Forest @ Frugal Zeitgeist wonders if saving is bad for the economy. There are some interesting thoughts in the comments as well.
Forest also examines the practice of loaning money to relatives.
Wojo @ Fiscal Fizzle discusses the ideal number of credit cards. What’s your ideal number? Go over and leave a comment!
Kris @ Everyday Tips and Thoughts thinks about how his GPS has affected his driving.
Sam @ Financial Samurai discusses the ideal income for maximum happiness. This has to be one of my favorite articles – and the picture is great!
Paul @ Provident Planning tells us why the 2.5 or 3 times your income rule for mortgages is stupid! Paul makes some very good points about this rule and others like it.
Paul also discusses some of the benefits of developing contentment in our lives.
Joe @ Personal Finance by the Book shows us how those “easy payments” can wreck our finances! A must-read for anyone who is considering buying on credit!
Jason @ Redeeming Riches gives us 6 shocking frugal lessons from the world’s richest people.
Other great articles:
Kevin @ Out of Your Rut shows us how to lower new car prices by refusing useless options. Kevin has written a lot about purchasing cars lately, be sure to visit his site before visiting the dealership.
Steadfast Finances shows us why home prices have a long way to fall to meet the historical trendline. A good post that may make you think twice before buying all the “right time to buy” hype!
