I’ve noticed that a number of website owners will publish statistics about their site. I’ve always found these type of posts to be very interesting, and helpful as well.
Well, I’ve decided to follow Crystal @ Budgeting in the Fun Stuff and post my stats! But, I also want to thank those who have been very supportive of me. Therefore, I will list the top 5 commenters, top 10 referring websites, and other supporters along with my stats.
I have a plugin that keeps track of the top commenters for each month and posts the top 5 in the sidebar with a link back to their site (the link is “Do Follow“) . However, after the month is over, it resets the count.
So…
Here are the Top 5 Commenters for the Month of October:
- Kris @ Everyday Tips & Thoughts (18)
- Mark @ Buy Like Buffett (14)
- Ditch the Boss (13)
- Aloysa @ Aloysa’s Kitchen Sink (9)
- Kevin @ Invest it Wisely (9)
Of course, I would like to thank everyone who took the time to leave a comment (especially about the firefighters who let the house burn down)! Reading and responding to comments helps to make this a lot of fun for me.
Here are the traffic stats for October:
- Alexa Ranking: 66,448
- Visits: 3,852
- Unique Visitors: 2971
- Pageviews: 7486
- Bounce Rate: 58.85%
- RSS subscribers: 112
- Twitter followers: 560
- Traffic breakdown: 56.46% Referring Sites, 13.60% Direct Traffic, 24.27% Search Engines, 5.66% Other
Here are the Top 10 Referring Websites for the Month of October:
(note: I only include other blogs or forums, not sites like Reddit, Tip’d, or Stumble Upon):
- Free Money Finance
- Wisebread
- Yakezie
- Early Retirement Extreme (forums)
- Simply CVS Shopping
- Provident Plan
- Tight Fisted Miser
- Workers Comp Insider
- Punch Debt in the Face
- Redeeming Riches
Thanks for all of the support and links over the past month. I’d hate to see what my traffic stats would look like without all these (and other) sites linking to me!
Something else that doesn’t show up in the statistics is all of the support that I get on the various social networks. There are people who will Tweet, Digg, Stumble Upon, FB Like, Tip, Buzz, and Vote up on Reddit, just about every one of my articles!
I usually connect with them on Twitter, and they are more than willing to help out:
- @JamesFowlkes
- @RedeemingRiches
- @pffirewall
- @iwp
- @BSimple
- @FaithFinance
- @OutOfYourRut
- @FinanciallyPoor
- @Aloysa2010
- @edaytipsthought
- @Bucksome
- @youngandthrifty
- @providentplan
- @JazzwifeKnS
- @CentsToSave
- @Momvesting
- @FrugalZeitgeist
- @Yakezie
If there is anyone else who usually promotes my articles and I didn’t mention you, please send me an email and I’ll include you. I tried to remember everyone!
Well, there you have it. Those are my blog statistics and supporters for the month of October. I would be grateful for your suggestions on how to grow both!

I do something like this on my site and I love reading other people’s updates as well. You seem to be doing a great job!
Thanks Fig! Hopefully, the presentation of these numbers will be cleaned up next time.
I love that you shared this info. It is always helpful as another blogger to read. I will have to look into that plug in. What system do you use to find out how many unique visitors you have per month?
Hello Melissa. I used Google Analytics to get those stats. It was fairly easy to use (even I could do it), and it’s essential for doing comparisons and the like.
Thank you for including me in the list. I included a Top Commentators widget in my blog and I can see that I am getting more comments now.
Thank you for a very interesting, informative and inspiring site.
It’s definitely a great way to thank everyone who participates on your site! I love that the links are “do follow”, so they actually carry some weight to them!
Thanks for all of your comments and support!
I really like this format. It’s impressive that you have so many subscribers already.
Thanks! I actually was a little down about some of these numbers. Thanks for the encouragement…and support!
I like your additions! I also post my top 5 referring websites every Saturday and the top 25 the first Saturday of every month – it’s nice to say thank you, right? I’m looking forward to your future updates!
I love being able to thank people who support me! Hopefully, my updates won’t be as boring as this one was.
Great numbers! Congratulations!
Thanks, Mark. And thank you for all the support!
Great post! I like the way you have shown your stats. I found the list very useful, thank you so much for this great post, keep up the good work.
Thanks!
I like how you displayed your statistics! You are doing a great job Kaleef! Personally, I hope to be one of your top commenters for next month. I really enjoy your blog and appreciate your efforts and hard work.
Thanks Lisa! You’re currently tied for #2 (even though it’s early)! Thank you for your kind words and encouragement!
Really great idea on all the details. I think we may…appropriate…this idea ourselves. One of the surprisingly great things about working in the financial space is the really excellent collaboration all the webmasters have.
As far as bounce rate, did you get any good Stumbles? Those are bounce rate poison.
One other thing I’d suggest on the email subscriptions (Obviously my suggestions are based on other sites I’ve worked on since we’re just getting rolling) You might try one of the different AWeber forms for the signup. You’d be surprised when it comes to conversion how much difference different colors/graphics and so on make.
Thanks for the mention as well!
Thanks for the suggestions. I am currently using Aweber, but I think that’s just one of the standard forms. I have to spend a little time on their site to look into their options. I’ll check into the other stuff you mentioned on Twitter as well. I think Lijit could be it!
Hey Khaleef- great stats! I am always happy to support your site as you always have great content!
In regards to your bounce rate question, I am guessing it is high from your social network sites like Reddit. Usually people just stop by briefly and leave. It is the catch 22. You want the traffic but it can really affect your stats.
That is just a guess though.
Thanks!
Reddit and Tip’d accounted for over 20% of my visitors last month, so that could be it.
Good idea! I saw Crystal’s stats the other day and think that sharing stats help bloggers (like newbies myself) understand what to shoot for in terms of goals.
I just finished a full month, but I’ll post the stats after November’s numbers are in. Should be an interesting comparison!
Tim
I still consider myself to be a newbie as well, but 6 months seems to be the line in the blogging world. I think your stats will look great, you have great content, and you’ve been extremely active.
Excellent stuff! I use to update my progress, but fell off on doing that on the regular. Might have to get back to it.
Anyway, might be nice to post last months stats along with this month, so we can see your progress that way. Just a suggestion.
Keep up the good work!
I think I’ll do that. Hopefully, I’ll find time tomorrow to add that in.
Thanks!
Great job Khaleef! This is awesome!!
Thanks, Jason. Hopefully, these number will increase over time.
Keep doing what you’re doing and they most certainly will!! You’re rockin it!
