CVS Shopping for the Week of 8.29.10 – Saved $158, Spent $6, Made $36

I know it’s only been a few days since I wrote about one of my CVS trips, so you probably weren’t expecting one this soon. However, I wanted to get this one out so you could take advantage of some of this week’s deals and coupons!

So, as usual here is a list of what we purchased – all shown in the picture above:

1 Box of Wheat Thins

1 Bottle of Purex Laundry Detergent

2 Boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios

2 Bottles of Nivea Happy Sensation Lotion (with 2 bonus travel size bottles)

3 Sticks of Gillette Clinical Deodorant

3 Bottles of Gillette Body Wash

1 Bottle of Nature Made Cholest-off

4 Oral-B Pulsar Toothbrushes

4 Cans of Pringles

1 Bag of Peanut Butter M&M’s

2 Dove Chocolate Bars

2 24 Packs of Nestle Pure Life Water

2 Tubes of Crest Clinical Toothpaste

1 Package of Purex Complete 3-in-1 (this is probably the best laundry innovation I’ve ever seen!)

Every item on this list was either on sale, or we had a coupon for it (and in many cases, both)! Actually, we try very hard to only purchase items that are on sale AND for which we have coupons!

That is why using the Coupon Database is so important (see below for more details).

Here are the totals of how much we paid, saved, coupons used and tax paid :

Total Value – $162.16

Savings from weekly deals – $32.80

Manufacturer & CVS coupons – $50.35

Extra Care Bucks Spent – $74.97

Total Savings – $158.12 (98%)

Subtotal – $(1.52)

Tax – $5.56

Total Paid – $4.04

Before I talk about the highlights, does anybody else see anything wrong with this? The store owed me $1.52 after applying my coupons and ECBs, and then the state of NJ came in and punched me in the mouth and took my profit and made me pay $4.04!!!

Ok, so it didn’t really happen like that (…or did it?), but I’m still a little upset that I couldn’t walk out with $1.52 plus all the ECBs that they paid me!

I am happy that we had a credit before taxes, and even after adding them in we spent very little. We were able to purchase $162.16 worth of items and only paid $4.04.

Highlights:

Oral-B Toothbrushes – We had 2 B1G1 Free coupons and also used 2 $1 coupons on the ones that we had to pay for. We also received $10 in ECBs from this purchase! – Search our Coupon Database to get these coupons.

Gillete Clinical Deodorant – We purchased them on sale and used 3 $2 coupons. We also used 3 Buy 1 get 1 Gillette Body Wash free coupons! - Search our Coupon Database to get these coupons.

A couple of our other highlights involved rain checks from previous weeks and so that won’t help you with your shopping this week.

We also earned $35.50 in ECBs, meaning that CVS paid us $31.46 to do our weekly shopping!!!
